APRIL THRIFT HAUL: ITEMS I RECEIVED FROM MY NANA SUSIE AND GRANDPA HERBIE

This month’s thrift haul is very special to me, especially because I didn’t find these items in a store. I never had the opportunity to meet my biological grandparents. My dad’s father passed away when he was 15, his mother passed away when my oldest sister was little and then mom’s mother passed away when I was born. My parents lived next to an elderly couple, Sue and Herbie, and they became our grandparents. Nana Susie knitted our Christmas stockings that we still use today, my love of turquoise and western wear stemmed from her jewelry collection and his bolo ties and she was an incredible artist.

A couple years ago their daughter Betsy sent me a large box of clothes and purses from Nana Susie and I maybe cried for a solid three days because they were beautiful, SO fashionable and I was able to see into the younger years of someone so special to me when I was growing up.

Right before the holidays, Betsy visited my parents and brought boxes of their stuff for us. From Nana Susie’s art work, crystals from Grandpa Herbie’s days working at the Arizona mines and so many other trinkets and memories from their house. In today’s IGTV haul I am going through some of my favorite items (including Nana Susie’s wedding dress!).

A huge thank you to Betsy for these super special items and I am so grateful to have you as family <3.
