Wear It Wednesday: 5 Ways To Style Black Lace

There are a few staple fabrics or types of pieces that I can’t live without. As you have probably guessed by now, I wear a lot of denim, graphic tees, and outerwear, but I also really love black lace! It’s a great styling fabric to dress something up, make it a little more sexy or edgy, and it never goes out of style. I originally wanted to do a general lace or sheer styling tutorial, but then I realized I had an excessive amount of black lace (ooops!) so I decided this would be fun to talk about! I feel like sometimes black lace can come across as taboo or something that you can only wear on date night or in the bedroom, but I want to help you change that! I have styled some of my favorite black lace pieces five different ways, and I’d love to hear which one is your favorite, or how you style your lace pieces! xo

 1. THE OFFICE LACE

The easiest way to dress up lace for the office is by pairing it with a blazer! I wrapped an boxy vintage blazer over my black lace dress and belted it. There’s still the lace around the skirt area and peeking through the pushed up sleeves, but it’s still office dress code appropriate!

 2. THE DATE-NIGHT LACE

Date night is a chance to show a little more skin and have fun with your look. I cut out the lining of this vintage lace fringe dress and layered it under my leather pleated skirt. I wore a black lacey bralette with an attached choker, and topped off the look with suede jacket and lace up sandals.

3. THE GIRLS-NIGHT-OUT LACE

Ready for a show-stopping look? Layer a lace skirt over a denim dress and add accessories! I layered two different lace bralettes under the dress and pulled it off the shoulder to play up the lace.

4. THE CASUAL LACE

Instead of tying your denim or plaid shirt around your waist this season, tie it around your chest to create a faux corset-type top. I tied my vintage striped shirt with a lace dress and kept things simple with sneakers and a little crossbody purse.

 5. THE PARTY LACE

You all know how much I love graphic tees, so I obviously had to incorporate at least one into this week’s tutorial! I layered a men’s graphic tee over this lace maxi gown and belted the look with a leather corset belt. I paired it with heels and kept jewelry to a minimum.
