The Yellow Snakeskin Trench

Last night I was putting together a presentation for my upcoming workshop at Phoenix Fashion Week happening later this week, and I caught myself in a rabbit hole of looking through my old photos, outfits and blog posts. Wow, a lot has changed over the past six years. My personal style has drastically changed from feminine preppy, to vintage mixed with cheap fast fashion, to now—a mix of high and low street style. I classify my style as a mix of feminine, grunge and tomboy. I almost always opt for a sneaker or boot versus a high heel, and I love incorporating unique pieces into my wardrobe, such as this snakeskin trench coat I picked up at Topshop a couple months ago. I saw it out of the corner of my eye while browsing and instantly knew I had to have it.

Before moving to New York, I was almost timid to step outside of my comfort zone and try new things. I stuck to the store mannequin trends at the mall, and toned down each look. I am not sure if it was the New York environment or an internal perspective change that boosted my confidence, but I know that within the past year, I have truly found my personal style. I plan on wearing this trench coat as much as possible this season, so don’t worry, you’ll be seeing it plenty! Have you encountered a time where you held back on your personal style? Let me know in the comments below! xo
