Some people call me a workaholic, I agree, but I don’t really know anything different. In school I was overcommitted, juggled multiple jobs and never slept. The “New York Dream” is not much different either – long office hours, being constantly connected to email and social media, and still juggling a few jobs. My day job is in the fashion/magazine industry, my night job is in the blogging industry and my weekend job is in the retail industry. Even with the crazy hours, I find a sense of peace with it. I enjoy being busy, checking items off my to-do list and feeling like I accomplished at least one small thing each day. Maybe I’m crazy, or I drink too much coffee, but it’s just who I am. In the past year I have started learning a lot more about balancing my life and what truly makes me happy. Recently, I have realized that the smallest things in the city help make me happy. Central Park is one of my favorite places in New York and every time I’m there I find instant peace and a chance to decompress and recharge. Last week I met up with my friend and photographer, Sam Kelly, for this shoot where she discovered this place in the park . Isn’t it lovely?! It had the cutest walkway and I saw so many people taking detours to work just to walk through Central Park.
So whether you feel like you’re juggling a million and one things right now, in need of a break and want to clear your mind, I want you to find your happy place. Mine is Central Park – away from the hustle and bustle of a city, away from my laptop, phone and all responsibilities. I encourage you to find out where your happy place is and dedicate some time there each week. With the holiday season approaching, the last thing we can even think about is ourselves, but I say “no way Jose” and spend some time on you too! Find your happy place, treat yourself every once in awhile and remember, it’s almost the weekend! xo
