Hello! I am so excited to write my first post here on SAK! You may recognize me from Audree's Instagram stories throughout the summer. (I'm the really funny one who loves Farris Wheels) I am Audree's styling intern and I started last May. Since then I have come back to Iowa to finish my last year of school! Last September I had the amazing opportunity to attend New York Fashion Week.

Audree's brother was getting married the same week and she needed someone to attend in her place. (uh, YES PLEASE) So what happened? The week of my dreams, that's what. I've dreamt of NYFW since I was little and it was incredible to actually experience it. I am back in NYC for fashion week next week and there's a few things I know now that I didn't know before. I wanted to share these things with you all!

1. This is your time to find your style.

Living in NYC over the summer really let me explore my style and try things I would never feel comfortable with here in Iowa. Now take that feeling and multiply it by 100. This is NYFW. The more original, crazy and loud your outfit is, the better. My outfits were subtle last year compared to everyone else so safe to say, my wardrobe will be stepping it up this season. Long story short, if you want to wear it, WEAR IT. There is no bad outfit at NYFW.

2. Don't be afraid to speak up!

I've made friends throughout my experience working with Audree but it's always a little nerve racking to go to shows alone. For my first few shows I kept to myself and stayed quiet. But on the last few days I talked to the people I was next to in line and the people sitting next to me at the show. I had so much more fun at these shows and I felt so much more comfortable! Everyone wants to act like their so cool but everyone really wants someone to talk to. Say hi, I promise you won't regret it. (And you might get a new Insta follow!)

3. Your feet need you.

I know we all see the photos of women going to shows wearing these 6-inch stilettos. Guess what? You can't last in those all day. My advice? Pop them on for a cute picture and then swap them out for some cute boots or sneakers. (You won't be the only one, I swear.)

4. Act the part.

Something that Audree told me before my first show was to act like I was suppose to be there. When you've never been to fashion week this is the best advice you could have. If you act like that's your place, people will treat you that way. It may sound intimidating at first but once you get the hang of it, it's really fun.

5. Don't cross your legs.

This is something that makes total sense but you don't think about it until the entire photography pit is screaming at you. If you're sitting front row, you need to keep your feet flat on the floor. Imagine, the final look of the show on Vogue and your shoe is taking up half of the photo. (Not the way you were hoping to get on Vogue...) If you forget this, don't worry, you will be reminded countless of times.

6. Enjoy it.

When you're attending these shows getting content is very important. But don't forget to take in everything around you. My first fashion week was one to remember and it was because I took a few moments to set my phone down and admire everything. I've thought about going to NYFW since I was ten and I was finally there. Those memories are stuck in my head (but I also got some great content.)

I am so excited to attend my second fashion week. You can expect some more originality in my outfits and you will of course see me on Audree's Insta stories. I am also excited to be posting more here on SAK! Talk soon!
