One Month Into 2019: How I’m Actively Trying to Live By My Resolutions

We’ve made it one month into 2019, and there’s plenty more to come. At the beginning of January, I shared my Year of Me post. Within that post, I shed light on a few of my resolutions. My resolutions included weeding negative people out, focusing on my work and school, getting in shape, and focusing on my mental health.

Today, I’m going to share with you how I’ve been trying to live by my resolutions. It hasn’t been an easy first month. I’ve had my fair share of ups and downs, but I know these resolutions will help me better aspects of myself. I have become a happier person and more fulfilled as I work to reach my goals.

Today, I’m sharing how I’m actively living by my 2019 resolutions! Enjoy! xo

Weeding Negative People Out

My top resolution was weeding negative people out. I had to think a lot about how I was going to do this. However, over the past month or so it’s worked itself out. Since returning to Flagstaff, Arizona I’ve tried my hardest to surround myself with positive people. I’ve reconnected with old friends, made new friends, and I’ve taken a step back from a few friendships. It’s still an on-going process, but as of this moment, I’m happy with who I’m surrounded by.

Focusing on School & Work

Over the past month, I’ve thrown myself into my work and school. If I’m not in class, at a sorority event, or hanging with friends, I’m usually working on something. I’m always looking through Mintel data for my capstones, writing memos, or writing new articles for my two internships. This past month, my school and work life have improved drastically. Along with school and work, I’ve started to revise my resume and job hunt for positions after college.

Getting In Shape

I’m not going to lie, this is a resolution that I have been slacking on a bit. I’ve only been to the gym once this month, my b. However, one way that I have tried to improve my physical health is by eating better. I cook for myself mostly, and I try my best to make healthier options. I try to create well-balanced meals with vegetables, proteins, and grains. Since cooking more for myself and knowing what is in my food my body feels better as a whole!

Focusing On My Mental Health

My last resolution is making sure I’m taking care of myself mentally. This month I’ve chosen “me” days/nights. Some days/nights I need to lay in bed, watch my favorite shows, binge my favorite snacks, or FaceTime my mom. I usually wake up the next day well rested and ready to take on the world. This month I’ve also learned to say no to things that I know will mentally exhaust me. Since, I’ve been feeling less drained and more energized.

Of course, there’s still a lot to do to achieve my resolution. I’ve just started by taking baby steps. How are you living by your resolutions? xo
