BEST PRODUCTS FOR DYED HAIR

Dyeing your hair is a blessing and a curse—the upkeep can be a struggle but I love the end results! I have dyed my hair countless times over the past few years, and through some trial and error, I have learned the best ways to take care of my hair to keep it healthy and strong. I used to think that I could get away with not using these products, but my mom, a hairstylist, taught me everything I needed to know. Also make sure to read my past article of her top ten tips!

If you thought your natural hair was difficult, dyed hair is a whole other battlefield. These are my favorite products for silky, shiny hair that you thought only existed in hair commercials.  Let me know if you have any products you swear by or try out any of these recommendations! xo

Purple Shampoo/Conditioner Set

If you recently dyed your hair for the first time or don’t want to fill up your bathroom with dyed-hair products, purple shampoo and conditioner should be the first things on your list. It is difficult to find a good set, but this one from PRAVANA is life-changing. It removes all brassiness, cleanses your hair, as well as strengthens it to avoid split ends.

Hask Hair Oil

Dyed hair is prone to dryness and breakage which is why this next product is essential This Argan hair oil from Hask is on double-duty, moisturizing and repairing breakage while leaving your hair shiny and silky smooth. It doesn’t leave a greasy residue and comes at a great price! What more could you ask for!?

DryBar Blonde Ale Brightening Cream

I’m constantly on the move, so leave-in hair products that require rinsing are a total pain. That’s why I love this cream—plus it’s the ultimate blonde booster! The lotion texture hydrates and smooths roughness. Work a small dollop through damp hair, avoiding the roots, and style as usual.

LivingProof Dry Shampoo

This dry shampoo isn’t made for dyed hair but it is one of my all-time favorite products. I am guilty of procrastinating showers, no shame here, so a good dry shampoo is a life-saver. It removes excess oil without drying out your hair and doesn’t leave that pesky white residue. It also comes in a 1.4oz travel size which is perfect to stick in your bag for when you’re on the go!

LivingProof Blowout Spray

Another LivingProof product I can’t live without out is this blowout spray! It locks in your blowout or any styling you choose and it lasts all day. Dyed hair is prone to hair loss and this blowout spray helps reduce the number of brush strokes you need throughout the day. I sleep in as late as possible and this spray helps cut down on the time I need to get ready! It is perfect to use on second-day (or let’s be honest, third and fourth day) hair.

Heat Protectant

Even if your hair isn’t dyed, but especially if it is, a good heat protectant is absolutely necessary to keep your hair strong and healthy. This Shea Moisture spray is made from black castor oil, peppermint, and Shea butter to protect hair from heat styling as well as strengthen to prevent breakage. I straighten or curl my hair almost every day and if I didn’t have a heat protectant, my hair would not survive.

Hair Brush

Average amounts of hair loss is normal, but dyed hair is prone to higher levels which can lead to further breakage and fear of baldness (or maybe that’s just me). I love this brush style of mixed boar and nylon bristles because it can be used with heat tools and fights frizz with every stroke. The size is also perfect for traveling, which is a lifesaver for windy days.
